Description
Melvin Kaufman liked commissioning interactive artworks. At 767 Third Avenue, there was an adjacent apartment building which featured what the Kaufman brothers considered a dull beige wall. Their solution was to attach a tall grid of metal beams to the blank wall of the nearby apartment and created a 3-story high chessboard with chess pieces each about 2-1/2’ across with the images outlined in blue.
