Description
Chicago Fugue is one of the largest sculptures produced by Sir Anthony Caro. Due to its immense size, the work had to be constructed on-site inside the lobby of the Philip Johnson designed building. Bars, slabs, ovals and split cylinders are arranged to allude to musical instruments. The horizontal framework of the lower part of the sculpture is reminiscent of pedals while the oval slabs resemble cymbals.
