Description
The Pegasus seen atop the Magnolia Building is a Dallas icon. Originally erected in 1934 to celebrate the American Petrolium Institute's annual meeting, the winged red horse has long been a fixture in the Dallas skyline. The myth of Pegasus dates back to ancient Greek mythology, but the origins of Dallas's Pegasus are not as well documented. The horse is actually two horses, 14 feet apart; each 35 feet wide by 50 feet tall. They weigh 15 tons and contain over a quarter of a mile of neon tubing....
