Description
Artist David Kestenbaum transformed an existing oak tree stump into a bench in the shape of the fictional character Merlin. The intention was to beautify a well-loved neighborhood park as well as to encourage children’s reading. Kestenbaum was then a recent graduate of the art school at UT Austin; the park is adjacent to the northern edge of the UT campus. The project was funded by neighborhood resident David Brooks.
