Sharon Johnston is a co-founder of the Los Angeles-based architecture firm Johnston Marklee, established in 1998. She is also a Professor in Practice at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. Her work, alongside her partner Mark Lee, includes a diverse range of projects such as the Menil Drawing Institute in Houston, the renovation of the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, and the new UCLA Margo Leavin Graduate Art Studios in Culver City. Johnston has been recognized for her contributions to the field, including being named Architectural Record’s Women in Architecture: New Generation Leader in 2019. She was also the Co-Artistic Director of the 2017 Chicago Architecture Biennial. Johnston’s academic roles have included significant positions at institutions such as Princeton University, the University of California, Los Angeles, and the University of Toronto, where she held the Frank Gehry International Chair.
