 A bronze tablet was installed in the plaza beneath the memorial. The tablet, placed by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, is dedicated to the horses which, in earlier years, pulled the fire department's engines 

Piccirilli is the artist attributed to the sculptures, and Magonigle created the marble monument for the Fireman's Memorial. The monument was dedicated in 1913 to the men who lost their lives in the line of duty. Almost a century later, the monument has new meaning; it also memorializes the 343 firefighters that died while attempting to save others from the World Trade Towers on September 11th, 2001.Fabricator: J. A non-profit organization dedicated to preventing cruelty to animals. Based in New York City since its inception in 1866, the organization's mission is "to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States."
