The Manual of the Corporation of the City of New York was published annually by the Common Council from 1841-1870.

In 1916 Henry Collins Brown resuscitated it adding historical commentary and images.&nbsp;

The Manual of the Corporation of the City of New York was published annually beginning in 1841. &nbsp;It typically contained statistical material. &nbsp;Publication ceased in 1870. &nbsp;

Arriving in New York at the age of ten from Scotland, Henry Collins Brown fell in love with the City and its history. &nbsp;He eventually wrote thirteen books including reviving the Valentine Manuals. &nbsp;He became active in the preservation movement. &nbsp;
