This bronze statue commemorates the Argentine general, Jose de San Martin, who successful led the revolution for Argentina's independence from Spain. He is widely recognized still for his accomplishments. Jose Julian Marti

Martí was killed in battle at Dos Ríos, shortly after returning to Cuba to join the independence struggle. Today he is revered as Cuba’s national hero, and his writings—including verses later adapted into the song Guantanamera—remain central to Cuban culture and identity.

José Martí was a Cuban poet, journalist, philosopher, and revolutionary who became the leading voice for Cuba’s independence from Spain. Known as the “Apostle of Cuban Independence,” Martí spent much of his life organizing support for the Cuban cause, particularly among Cuban exiles in New York and Florida.A gifted writer and political thinker, Martí founded the newspaper Patria and authored influential poems, essays, and speeches that championed freedom, democracy, and Latin American unity. He played a central role in organizing the Cuban War of Independence and helped establish the Cuban Revolutionary Party.
