Paul Revere was an American silversmith, industrialist, and a Patriot in the American Revolution. He is best known for his midnight ride on April 18, 1775, where he alerted the colonial militia to the approach of British forces before the battles of Lexington and Concord. This event was later immortalized in Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem, "Paul Revere's Ride".
Revere was born in Boston and became a prosperous and prominent Bostonian, earning his living as a silversmith and engraver. He was also involved in the Sons of Liberty, a group that resisted British taxation and played a significant role in organizing the Boston Tea Party. After the American Revolution, Revere expanded his business interests into metalwork, including the production of copper sheathing for naval vessels.
