Richard Serra is most well known for his large-scale, minimalist sculptures made from Cor-ten steel. His education consisted of studying English at Berkeley, and painting at Yale. He was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to Rome in 1964. Shortly thereafter, he began creating sculpture out of materials such as rubber and molten lead, which led to his involvement in the Process Art movement. His exhibitions and permanent works on display have spanned the globe.
