Baker Library was designed by McKim, Mead &amp; White and completed in 1927 as the centerpiece of the Harvard Business School campus. RAMSA's renovation and addition reconceived the building as a 160,000-gross-square-foot center for research and group study, with greatly expanded meeting facilities, offices for faculty and their support staff, and archival storage for the Library's one-of-a-kind collection of historical business materials. The historic north facade was fully restored with replacement double-hung Georgian windows that meet twenty-first-century energy performance goals and satisfy ultraviolet protection requirements&mdash;especially important to the library's restored historic reading room. Important interior rooms of the original building were restored; we rectified earlier renovations by creating new rooms in the existing building; and the original self-supporting stacks were replaced with new construction to accommodate offices, seminar rooms, and lounges. Faculty office configurations were standardized and organized to integrate shared spaces for collaboration. A skylit atrium brings natural light deep into the building and provides an informal meeting place for students and faculty. Central to the reorganization is a second front entrance at what was originally the back of the building to address the reorientation of the campus to the south, making the building an easily accessible crossroads of the HBS campus. Our design provides for pedestrian movement through the building from north to south through the original portico and lobby, and secondary circulation from west to east, all on the first floor.Baker Library advances the mission of the Harvard Business School by providing distinctive information services, resources and expertise so that the community excels. They support faculty, doctoral and MBA students, executive education participants, and external researchers in their research and curriculum activities. They also support HBS and Harvard alumni and undergraduates and, to a limited extent, the general public. The collections, both physical and digital, cover most aspects of management including such specialties as accounting and control, agribusiness, banking, business and economic history, commerce, economic philosophy, finance, information technology, international business, management education, manufacturing, marketing, political economy, and transportation. The library's collections are located in the Stamps Reading Room and the two lower levels of the building.

Founded in 1804 the New York Historical Society is the oldest museum in New York City.

The five-year renovation project to make the museum more user friendly and was completed in 2011.

The institution has expanded its building on Central Park West, adding more than 70,000 square feet of program space for itself and for The American LGBTQ+ Museum, New York’s first museum dedicated to LGBTQ+ history and culture, which will make its permanent home at New-York Historical. The design provides additional classrooms, galleries, collections study areas, and a state-of-the-art compact storage facility for the institution’s Patricia D. Klingenstein Library.

The museum houses 1.6 million objects including a large collection of historical artifacts and works by the Hudson River School painters and John Audobon's 435 watercolors of birds. The library contains over 3 million books and other printed materials.&nbsp;

The new Tang Wing provides state-of-the-art classroom space for the Chang Chavkin Academy for American Democracy, for 6th graders, that's designed to address critical knowledge gaps in the learning of American history. The new wing allows for an increase in the number of students served from 3,000 to 30,000 annually.

A state-of-the-art science facility for the conservation and restoration of rare and precious documents and other materials from the Patricia D. Klingenstein Library as well as paintings and other artworks from the Museum Division. Conceived and designed by Samuel Anderson, widely considered the preeminent architect of conservation studios, the studio provides space for a team of four museum and library conservators using the most advanced technology to preserve this singular collection.

New York Historical - Museum & Library

Architect Ray Dovell discusses the New York Historical Society Museum. Prior to the renovation, the building functioned more like a "club" than as a "museum"; with the renovation, the architects designed the building to invited the public inside.

 Located on the Harlem River immediately south of Sherman Creek, the Peter Jay Sharp Boathose reestablishes the historic presence of recreational boating facilities on Manhattan`s northern waterfront. This project is part of a rehabilitation of the blighted shoreline area undertaken by the New York Restoration Project, a privately-funded non-profit, in conjunction with New York City and State agencies. To avoid harming the fragile intertidal environment, the boathouse was designed as a floating structure, as were the earlier boathouses located on the site. The Boathouse was built up the Hudson and floated into place. Access to the facility from the promenade atop the nearby embankment is through a gated entrance and down a series of ramped fixed piers leading to floating docks. The first floor of the boathouse contains storage space and a launching area for sixteen boats of various sizes, while administrative, exercise, and meeting rooms are housed on the building`s second floor. Spectators can enjoy crew practices and races from a second-floor deck. The project received an award from the New York City Art Commission in 2001.

 The project is a 17 story LEED Certified waterfront condominium tower designed by Robert AM Stern. In addition to the highrise apartments, there are also 7 townhouses along Bethune Street. The project takes the name from the former Superior Ink factory on this site.

The Wasserstein Hall-Caspersen Student Center-Clinical Wing building was completed in 2011. It houses academic offices and classrooms, a student center and clinical programs for Harvard University Law School and was designed by the noted New York firm Robert A. M. Stern Architects. The site is named after Bruce Wasserstein (1947-2009) and Finn Caspersen. Wasserstein was a New York investment banker and businessman. Finn Caspersen (-2009) was a New Jersey businessman and philanthropist.

 The project is composed of an almost continuous palisade of mid-height apartment buildings punctuated by four twin-towered icons that establish it as an internationally acknowledged archetype of Manhattan and of modernity. Fifteen Central Park West consists of two buildings: a nineteen-story apartment house on the park reinforcing the palisade, and, relating to the four towers, a soaring thirty-five-story tower behind, separated by a garden and motor court but connected at street level by a domed elliptical pavilion. In contrast to the dark reflective glass of recent buildings around Columbus Circle, Fifteen Central Park West is clad in limestone, traditionally the material of choice for New York's most important buildings; no material takes the light more beautifully

 The museum was opened to the public on April 19, 2017, the 242nd anniversary of the first battles of the war, at Lexington and Concord, on April 19, 1775. 

A museum in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, dedicated to telling the story of the American Revolution. The museum rises three stories above the street and, with a full basement, encompasses 118,000 total square feet, with 32,000 dedicated to exhibits and interpretive spaces. The first floor includes a museum shop and the Cross Keys Caf&eacute; which opens to the sidewalk. The first floor interior is organized around a skylit central interior court and features a cross-vaulted ticketing lobby, a multi-use theater and a changing exhibition gallery. The second floor features 18,000 square feet of galleries and a theater dedicated to the exhibition of George Washington's marquee tent. The museum's third floor offers rooms for events and two terraces overlooking the First Bank of the United States, Independence National Historical Park, and the Philadelphia skyline beyond. The museum owns a collection of several thousand objects including artwork and sculpture, textiles and weapons, manuscripts and rare books. Permanent and special exhibition galleries, theaters and large-scale tableaux portray the individuals and events and engage people in the history and continuing relevance of the American Revolution.

 The Abington House evokes an industrial heritage in both its materials and exterior details. The building's landscape design by MNLA relates to the character of the adjacent High Line: the landscape shifts as elevation changes from a lush and shaded forested grove in the courtyard to more open, sunny and mineral environments as one ascends the structure. The off-street entry brings visitors under the High Line into a gracious courtyard. The front porch terrace, just 15 feet away from the High Line, balances formal program with a hillside native planting. The sun terrace on the 22nd floor offers mounded and planted islands to create congenial places in both sun and shade. The party terrace, the highest outdoor space, integrates lounge-like outdoor rooms and dining facilities with thickly planted buffers for visual and aural privacy.

Robert A.M. Stern was a practicing architect, teacher, and writer. He was a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, and in 2017 received the Topaz Medallion, awarded jointly by the AIA and the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture in recognition of outstanding service to architectural education. Mr. Stern was the 2011 Driehaus Prize laureate and in 2008 received the tenth Vincent Scully Prize from the National Building Museum. In 2007, he received both the Athena Award from the Congress for the New Urbanism and the Board of Directors' Honor from the Institute of Classical Architecture &amp; Art. He had been a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts &amp; Sciences since 2007 and a member of the American Academy of Arts &amp; Letters since 2011. Mr. Stern served as Dean of the Yale School of Architecture from 1998 to 2016; he was named J.M. Hoppin Professor of Architecture in 2000.&nbsp;
