For more than a decade, Sage and Coombe Architects has worked on a variety of small and large projects in and around New York City. To achieve the highest quality of work, the office has cultivated a group of complementary professionals, prepared to work as a team and devoted to building great architecture within the constraints of practical realities. Sage and Coombe was entrusted with the two-phase design and reconstruction of the Noguchi Museum in Long Island City, and has helped the City & Country School in Greenwich Village develop and implement a phased Master Plan for its LEED certified renovation and expansion projects. For a variety of other clients, the firm has designed corporate offices, retail spaces, houses, lofts, and townhouse renovations. Selected for the Design Excellence programs of both the Parks Department and the NYC Department of Design and Construction, Sage and Coombe’s public work includes the renovation of the Bronx River Arts Center, a new indoor track and field building for PlaNYC, and the first building project at Fresh Kills; each is registered for LEED certification. For the FDNY and the NYC Economic Development Corporation, Sage and Coombe is completing the design of a new marine company firehouse; the New York Public Library asked the firm design a series of children’s reading rooms in four branch libraries. Both principals and a majority of our staff are LEED-accredited professionals. The integration of new technologies and sustainable strategies is key to the firm’s work for a range of environmentally-conscious clients, where green roofs, photo-voltaic panels and geothermal cooling have been incorporated into a variety of projects.
