In 1964, The Beatles conquered America. They spent five days living at The Plaza during which time they played two shows at Carnegie Hall and appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show. On February 10th, 1964, The Beatles held a press conference in the Baroque Room where they were presented with gold records for their single &ldquo;I Wanna Hold Your Hand&rdquo; and their album &ldquo;Meet The Beatles.&rdquo;The legendary musician, John Lennon, along with the multi-media artist, singer, and peace activist Yoko Ono, frequented the Oyster Bar while they was living in New York in the 1970's.

Strawberry Fields is a memorial to the British rock musician and peace activist John Lennon. The memorial consists of a five-acre landscape near the West 72nd Street entrance and includes the Imagine mosaic, where many come to pay tribute to Lennon. The memorial’s name is a reference to the 1967 song Lennon wrote and performed with the Beatles, “Strawberry Fields Forever.”

 Strawberry Fields is a living memorial to the world-famous singer, songwriter, and social activist John Lennon (1940-1980). This area of Central Park was named in 1981, and the re-landscaped Strawberry Fields was dedicated in 1985. In 1984, Yoko Ono contributed $500,000 to redesign and renovate Strawberry Fields, and an equivalent amount for an ongoing maintenance endowment. Landscape architect Bruce Kelly designed a meditative Garden of Peace, rich in trees, shrubs and flowers, which was integrated with the historic landscape of Frederick Law Olmsted (1822-1903) and Calvert Vaux (1824-1895). At the western apex of the garden, Neopolitan artisans crafted a circular black and white mosaic emblem into the pavement, containing a starburst pattern and the solitary word, "Imagine," the title of one of Lennon's most famous songs. 150 nations were enlisted to contribute plants to the garden, thus embodying the principle of world peace for which Lennon was such an influential advocate. On October 9, 1985, on the 45th anniversary of Lennon's birth, Strawberry Fields was dedicated, and has become a pilgrimage site for visitors to New York from around the world.

The theater has been used as a venue for live and taped CBS broadcasts since 1936. It is historically known as the home of The Ed Sullivan Show and the site of The Beatles' US debut performance. It has also housed David Letterman's tenure of CBS' Late Show from 1993 to 2015. The theatre currently houses The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the second incarnation of the Late Show franchise. It is on the National Register of Historic Places, and the interior has been designated a landmark by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission.

Ed Sullivan Theater

 Built in 1891 by the philanthropist Andrew Carnegie, Carnegie Hall immediately became the home of the New York Philharmonic and, by extension, one of the most prestigious music venues in the world. It presents about 200 concerts every year. This restoration and renovation posed an especially exciting challenge, given the building`s landmark status, a demanding construction schedule, and users` memories and expectations for America`s most venerated concert hall. An extensive restoration of Carnegie`s original details celebrates the hall`s rich history. New details&mdash;custom lighting fixtures, railings, graphics and a new marquee&mdash;which evoke the spirit of the original design, announce late twentieth century improvements without compromising the building`s historic character. Phases I and II included the new lobby, newly-created Kaplan Rehearsal Space, and completely renovated Main Hall and Weill Recital Hall, which together demonstrate how carefully-designed public spaces can range from the ceremonial to the intimate. Newly developed circulation systems facilitate transitions from public entry and gathering spaces to the performance halls. The design has transformed this late nineteenth century hall into a twenty-first century facility. 

Carnegie Hall

This world renowned luxury hotel has been a symbol of elegance in New York City since its opening in 1907. It was designed as an adaptation of French Renaissance architecture.A French Renaissance-inspired château-style building, it contains 21 stories and is 251.92 ft (76.79 m) tall. The Plaza Hotel's floors use a European floor-numbering pattern, where floor 1, corresponding to the second story, is directly above the ground floor. The first and second stories of the facade, are clad with rusticated blocks of marble. The fourth through fifteenth stories, are clad with white brick and typically contain rectangular windows. These stories contain terracotta veneers that harmonize with the marble facade below it and the mansard roof above.Frank Lloyd Wright designed many buildings while staying at the Plaza. Many movies and books, such as North by Northwest and Eloise, have featured scenes at the Plaza. Occupants enjoy unbeatable views of Central Park and Fifth Avenue.The corner of Fifth Avenue, Central Park South, and 59th Street was developed with the Plaza, Savoy, and New Netherland hotels during the 1890s; the Savoy would be replaced in 1927 by the Savoy-Plaza Hotel, which itself would be demolished in 1964. All three hotels contributed to Fifth Avenue's importance as an upscale area.

Summer Garden, a&amp;nbsp; seasonal restaurant opens, is to be known later as The Rose Room, which reverts to a space for private functions in 1940  

 Introduced with the hotel&amp;rsquo;s opening in 1907. The Porch was a seasonal outdoor restaurant with only ten tables, patronized by the likes of Diamond Jim Brady and the Prince of Wales. Today&amp;rsquo;s Champagne Bar was beautifully renovated in 2014 and is located adjacent to The Plaza&amp;rsquo;s lobby and Fifth Avenue foyer.  

The leaded glass dome was removed around World War II, reportedly to prevent it from being a beacon during air raids  

Plaza Hotel

 Perhaps more renowned for its resident John Lennon who was shot outside by Mark David Chapman in 1973, the Dakota was one of the first large apartments built on the West Side. In order to attract upscale residents to what was then an almost rural location, the building is loaded with amenities. Carriages would enter through a porte cochere. There are elevators as well as staircases. Each of the 65 apartments is unique, all of the rooms are very large; living rooms are 45' long and 14' high and have windows on several sides. The building also featured a large dining hall with dumbwaiters for food to be transported to the apartments. For exercise, children could play in a penthouse playroom and gymnasium. Outside there was a garden, croquet lawn, and tennis court. It generated its own electricity. There was central heating which was unusual for the 1880's. Famous residents included Judy Garland, Yoko Ono, Lauren Bacall, Rosemary Clooney, Boris Karloff, Rudolph Nureyev, Leonard Bernstein, and Connie Chung.

The Beatles gave two sold out performances at Carnegie Hall on February 12, 1964. &nbsp;Their concert was the first time that a rock act played at Carnegie Hall.

The Plaza Hotel was the 1st hotel the Beatles stayed in the country, arriving shortly after their JFK Airport press conference on February 7, 1964. With about 50 police officers guarding the band amid intense fan frenzy, The Beatles occupied the 10-room Presidential Suites on the 12th floor (rooms 1209–1216).

 The Beatles were an English rock band formed in Liverpool in 1960. The group, whose best-known line-up comprised John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, are regarded as the most influential band of all time.
