Founded in 2001 by Caterina Roiatti, AIA, and Robert Traboscia, TRA is an architectural studio working across development, preservation, interior design, and branded environments. Rather than specializing in a single discipline, the firm positions itself as a link between art and architecture, public and private sectors, and developers and agencies—a philosophy reflected in its name, derived from the Italian word for “in between.”
The studio’s portfolio includes projects in programming, planning, new construction, adaptive reuse, and institutional master plans, with a focus on integrating design across multiple disciplines. Some of its notable works include 501 Broadway, 22 Mercer, Loft25, 173 MacDougal, 128 East 28th Street, the New York Academy of Arts, and 35 Worth Street.
TRA’s work has been recognized in several architectural publications and has received awards such as the 2024 CA SARA Excellence Award, a 2025 Merit Award from AIA Tri-State, and the Regina Kellerman Award from the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation. The firm was a finalist in the Grand Army Plaza Competition and has won multiple honors from the AIA NY Interiors Committee. In 2020, it was ranked among the Interior Design Power Grid Top Firms in New York City.
