One of the largest public art budgets was generated in 1981, for the 48 story office tower known as the Wells Fargo Building. More than $1.1 million was eventually spent on art because of the Community Redevelopment Agency’s percent for art program. Because of this enormous budget, the developer was able to bring in several prominent works by famous 20th century artists which created great art exposure for the public in Los Angeles. The work of Bruce Nauman, Frank Stella, Mark di Suvero, Michael Heizer, and Robert Rauschenberg are featured here.
