Joseph Chirico, owner of Marco Polo Ristorante in Brooklyn, pled guilty in 2008 to laundering money for the Gambino family. Known as "Joey Marco Polo," he once owned Gage & Tollner, a historic restaurant tied to an alleged Gambino shakedown of Steven Seagal. During his sentencing, where he received six months of house arrest with work privileges, federal judge Jack Weinstein noted Chirico's reputation in the neighborhood as being both respected and linked to organized crime.
