Re-Covering the Cityscape: This is Con Edison's third artistic manhole cover edition in recent times. The first was an edition of 150 covers by Karim Rashid that the Company commissioned on the advent of the Millennium; the next was a collaboration with the Public Art Fund on 15 covers by conceptual artist Lawrence Weiner's text cover; and now Michele Brody's historically oriented project begins with one unique cover designed to reference the former Assay Office.
