Immersive Quotations at Grand Central Madison

The placemaking strategy includes a collection of immersive quotations.  Even though they can be a bit difficult to both read and find, and it feels a bit like finding Waldo's there are wonderful descriptions of the joy and wonder of famous New Yorkers including Derek Jeter, Joan Didion and Ed Koch tattooed on the walls.  Simone de Beauvoir in America Day by Day 1947 "There's something in the New York Air that makes sleep useless.  Georgia O'Keeffe noted in reaction to criticism of her skyscraper paintings in 1928 "One can't paint New York as it is but rather how it is felt". Jay Z and Alicia Keys noted in 2009's Empire State of Mind, The Blueprint 3 "There's nothin' you can't do now you're in New York.  These streets will make you feel brand new.  Big lights will inspire you, Let's hear it for New York."  Ada Limon in 2013 noted in Eleven True Things, Goodbye to all that "Discovering New York is like discovering a different color."  Toni Morrison wrote in All That Jazz, New York Magazine in 1992 that "New York is the last True City". Indeed it is.
