The Amache National Historic Site, also known as the Granada Relocation Center, is located near Granada, Colorado. It was one of ten incarceration sites established during World War II to unjustly imprison Japanese Americans. From 1942 to 1945, over 10,000 Japanese Americans, most of whom were American citizens, were forcibly relocated and confined there.
Today, the site serves as a poignant memorial and educational resource, honoring the resilience of those who endured this injustice. Visitors can explore the remaining foundations, historic roads, a cemetery, and several reconstructed structures from the camp-era. The site is managed by the National Park Service in partnership with the Amache Preservation Society and other dedicated organizations.
