The La Kretz Innovation Campus (LKIC), designed by John Friedman Alice Kimm Architects (JFAK), is located in Los Angeles' Arts District and involves the adaptive reuse of a 61,000 square-foot warehouse. The design incorporates a "village" concept with a loop connecting eight warehouse bays, facilitating interaction among users. Natural light is brought into the building through skylight "funnels" and Solatubes, and the campus has achieved LEED-Platinum and WELL-Gold certifications, integrating sustainability technologies like a greywater filtration system, bioswales, a microgrid, and a solar photovoltaic canopy. The interior features flexible workspaces, conference rooms, labs, prototyping workshops, and an event space for up to 140 people. The campus serves as the home of the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator and the Department of Water and Power Energy Innovation Center, supporting collaboration among entrepreneurs, engineers, and policymakers.
