In 2013, WBZ-TV exposed cracked frames on Fung Wah buses, prompting Massachusetts authorities to pull most of its fleet. Soon after, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration declared the company an “imminent hazard” and shut it down. Despite spending heavily on safety upgrades and planning a 2015 relaunch, Fung Wah permanently closed that July after failing to secure a Boston stop near Chinatown.
