Rooted in the American woman`s handcraft tradition of quilt-making, these colorful contemporary mandalas are made by patching together bits and pieces of recycled plastic shopping bags, to reveal the hidden beauty of the overlooked, disposable materials that continually pass through our hands. The series of 41 digital color prints are laminated between two sheets of acrylic plastic and reflect a variety of flowers, prints and patterns. Sited at a recreation center with an active after-school program, this artwork brightens the space and encourages a spirit of community and renewal.
