Hammerman House

Neutra is considered the father of Californian Modernism. He built the single-storey Bel Air house for clients Richard and Clare Hammerman. The house is sited atop a high knoll with stunning city views, behind a long gated driveway. It has an open floor plan and pared-back aesthetic. 

The building has experienced substantial alterations including conversion of an original overhang into a balcony and the addition of a third story penthouse. While the residence may be significant as an important work of Neutra it does not retain integrity and is therefore not eligible.
