The bronze statue of Senator Jacob K. Javits was dedicated in the lobby of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, honoring the influential New York statesman whose leadership helped shape modern public policy. Created by sculptor William Crozier, the eight-foot-tall monument portrays Javits standing beside an office chair, his left arm extended in welcome and his right hand resting on the chair, reflecting both his approachable nature and commanding presence.
Commissioned by the Jacob K. Javits Foundation with support from the convention center and private donors, the sculpture was designed to be a realistic tribute to the senator. Javits's widow, Marian B. Javits, insisted on an authentic likeness that captured his dignity, integrity, and energetic commitment to public service. Unveiled on what would have been his 94th birthday, the statue serves as a lasting memorial to one of New York's most respected political leaders.
