Installed the former conference room on the 15th Floor of the Times Building and designed as both a repository and to inspire the staff with the impressive history, the Museum packs a lot into a small space. There is the original handwritten draft of the famous 'Business Announcement of 1896. “It will be my earnest aim that THE NEW-YORK TIMES give the news, all the news, in concise and attractive form, in language that is parliamentary in good society, and give it as early, if not earlier, than it can be learned through any other reliable medium; to give the news impartially, without fear or favor, regardless of party, sect, or interests involved; to make the columns of THE NEW-YORK TIMES a forum for the consideration of all questions of public importance, and to that end to invite intelligent discussion from all shades of opinion.” It includes all 8 of the Pulitzer Prizes the paper received. Reporters and photographers have traveled into war zones. The Museum has the shards of the rocket that nearly killed war correspondent C. J. Chivers in Libya and the camera that photographer João Silva was carrying in Afghanistan when he stepped on a landmine and lost his legs. the style book, mastheads, linotype, and first editions of the paper that were printed during significant events such as the first landing on the moon.
