Improv Everywhere’s “No Underwear Subway Ride” on March 27 involved over a thousand participants riding the New York subway without pants, aiming for a playful public performance. Videos from the event showed mostly amused reactions from bystanders, and no official complaints were filed with the police or transit authority. Legally, the event did not violate laws on public exposure, and transit rules about causing "annoyance" seemed not to apply, as reactions were largely positive or indifferent. Around 3:30 p.m. on trains downtown — a No. 6 at Brooklyn Bridge, an E at Chambers Street, an R at City Hall, and a No. 1 at Chambers Street — disrobed from waist to ankles and rode for 20 minutes.
