The Space Analog for the Moon & Mars (SAM)

The SAM (Space Analog for the Moon and Mars) habitat project, led by Kai Staats, saw design begin in 2019, with construction from 2021 to 2023. SAM features a Mars-like habitat with crew quarters, an engineering bay, a greenhouse, and an airlock, designed for missions lasting six days to weeks.

 The first missions, Inclusion I and II in 2023, tested hydroponics, CO2 management, 3D printing, and pressurized suits for EVAs. Notable Biosphere 2 figures joined for mission support, highlighting SAM's scientific and inclusivity-focused goals.
