Louis Del Sarte's 2001 mural for the Church Ave. subway stop reflects the influence of the Caribbean and Caribbean-American residents of the Flatbush neighborhood today; the West Indian-American Day Parade is prominently featured alongside other neighborhood sights and scenes. People of many different races and ethnicities have been a majority in the neighborhood at different times, and the artist wanted to pause for a moment to reflect on the culture of the group that forms a majority today.
