This three-ton sculpture located in the courtyard of Trinity Church was inspired by the remaining stump and root of the 70-year old sycamore tree that shielded St. Paul's Chapel against falling debris during the collapse of the Twin Towers during the 9/11 attacks. This was one of the first memorials to be installed downtown.

The sculpture was moved by Trinity Church to the The Trinity Retreat Center in Connecticut and damaged in the process. In 2017, the artist sued the church for $1.2 million under the Visual Artists Rights Act, but lost his case.
