This building was distinguished at that time by virtue of having two elevators, and these elevators, of course, were operated by the newly available steam power. For many years and until October, 1931, when it was condemned by the Building Department, the building was owned and occupied by The First National Bank of the City of New York. (It is of interest that the new First National Bank Building, which is being erected on the same site, has contracted for New York Steam service.)
