Public Art in Battery Park City

Battery Park City is a planned community spanning 92 acres on the southwestern tip of Manhattan in New York City. It was built in the 1970s and 1980s by expanding the shoreline of Manhattan into the Hudson River through a massive landfill project using land from the excavations made for other construction projects such as the World Trade Center and sand dredged from New York Harbor off Staten Island.The neighborhood is characterized by its modern high-rise residential buildings, green public parks, and stunning views of the Hudson River and the New York City skyline. It's a popular destination for both locals and tourists due to its diverse range of activities and attractions. One of the main attractions in Battery Park City is the Battery Park City Esplanade, a pedestrian pathway along the Hudson River that offers views of the water and skyline. The esplanade features public art installations and is a popular spot for walking, jogging, and biking. Battery Park City is home to several cultural institutions, including the Museum of Jewish Heritage, the Skyscraper Museum, and the Poets House. Additionally, the area has a number of public schools, such as P.S. 276 and Stuyvesant High School.
