Designed by Douglas Architects, the hotel serves as a link between the Alamo and the River Walk area.

This public pedestrian concourse connects Alamo Plaza with the River Walk, two blocks to the west. At the Alamo Plaza entrance are fragments of the west wall of Mission San Antonio de Valero. From these archeological remains to the river, the paseo steps down repeatedly, conveying pedestrians alongside—and beneath—channeled waters reminiscent of the city’s historic acequias and aqueduct. On the passageway wall is a mosaic tile mural by local artist Tom Stell depicting San Antonio scenes. The course descends 27 feet from Alamo Plaza to the river, passing through the sixteen-story lobby of the Hyatt Regency Hotel and ending near the North Presa Street bridge.
