About this Tour Stop...

Built in 1968 to coincide with the opening of the HemisFair, the building was constructed in an incredible 202 days. Designed by Cerna, Garza, and Associates and constructed by H. B. Zachary, the AIA award winning design used pre-fabricated modular units to speed up construction. An urban rumor claims that the modules were furnished, even down to the bed linens, before they were lifted into place. While interesting, no photo documentation exists to substantiate this claim. The 21 story hotel opened just 2 days before the 1968 HemisFair.
