Bill de Blasio, born Warren Wilhelm Jr. on May 8, 1961, served as the 109th mayor of New York City from 2014 to 2021. He is a member of the Democratic Party and was the first Democratic mayor of the city in nearly 20 years when he was elected. Before becoming mayor, de Blasio held the office of New York City Public Advocate from 2010 to 2013.
During his tenure as mayor, de Blasio focused on addressing income inequality and expanding city services, which led to a significant increase in the city’s budget. He also served as Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager for her successful senatorial run in 2000 and was a New York City councillor from 2002 to 2009.
