John Pierpont Morgan, commonly known as J.P. Morgan, was an influential American financier and banker born on April 17, 1837. He played a pivotal role in corporate finance and industrial consolidation during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Morgan founded J.P. Morgan & Co., which became one of the most powerful banking institutions on Wall Street. Morgan was instrumental in stabilizing the American economy during financial crises and helped to create major corporations, including U.S. Steel and General Electric.
