Laura Norwitz is South Street Seaport Museum’s Senior Director of Programs and Education and has been a maritime and classroom educator since 1985. She started her maritime education career at Schooner, Inc. in New Haven CT, and then spent many years as a classroom teacher and staff developer in New York City, before coming to South Street Seaport Museum in 2013. She is passionate about helping students and the general public make connections among history, geography, science, math, the arts, and their daily lives, in relevant and authentic ways. Laura holds an Environmental Engineering degree from Princeton University and a Master’s in Education from Bank Street College.
