Lisa Gould, FAIA, is a national leader in health, science, and academic design, dedicated to a multidisciplinary vision that maximizes synergies and promotes innovation, enabling greater integration between teaching, research, and patient care. She is a director and co-leader of SOM’s integrated Education, Science, and Health practice. She was previously a design principal at Perkins + Will and director of Health + Science Design at SOM. As an independent practitioner, Gould recently collaborated on a number of large-scale, complex education, health, and science projects for Stanford University, Ohio State University, University of Pennsylvania, and Columbia University. Gould integrates urban design, functional planning, and interiors, creating efficient, flexible, and stimulating environments for research, study, and patient care. Her work has been published in Architectural Record, Contract Magazine, Progressive Architecture, and other architecture and design magazines, as well as in numerous specialty books on education and healthcare environments. Her awards include recognition from the Boston Society of Architects, the American Institute of Architects, the Center for Healthcare Design, and the Chicago Athenaeum.Gould’s work acts as a bridge between clinical, science, and academic environments, bringing people together in support of innovative scientific discovery, interactive learning, and humane patient care.
