The General Assembly was the governing body of the Province of New York when it was a Crown colony.

The Assembly first met under Thomas Dongan. It's first act was to pass ‘The Charter of Liberties and Privileges’ which authorized the election of an assembly.
Disbanded, Apr, 1775
It was dissolved during the British Occupation of New York City.
