770 Broadway was built between 1903 and 1907 as an annex to the original Wanamaker's department store, connected by a sky bridge and tunnel. The building housed a central court, an auditorium with a pipe organ, and served as an early TV studio. After Wanamaker's closed in 1954, the annex survived and was leased to various tenants, including Kmart in 1996. Vornado Realty Trust bought the building in 1998 and renovated it in 2000. Over time, AOL and Meta (formerly Facebook) occupied much of the space. Kmart closed in 2021, and Wegmans opened in 2023. The building was refinanced in 2022, and in 2024, most of Meta's vacated space was leased to an unnamed tenant.
