The facade of the Kalahari building is a reflection of the art of the Kalahari San people, who have lived in harmony with their harsh and fragile ecosystem for hundreds of thousands of years. The Kalahari is a a mixed-use residential building that was built using sustainable development practices and will be maintained with energy and resource efficiency. The building meets United States Green Building Council(USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) high-performance standards, as well as the performance criteria required by the New York State Energy Research & Development Authority (NYSERDA).
