The installation serves as the primary entrance for over seventy fashion events at Lincoln Center. The entrance to the tents is covered by a 50 foot tall canopy that seemingly hovers without support above the Lincoln Center plaza. The canopy treats the ubiquitous travertine cladding of Lincoln Center as a literal and metaphorical fabric; the color and texture of travertine have been turned into a print on a soft material that wraps a structural support system, producing the surreal experience of walking underneath a free-floating travertine volume supported by air. The malleability of the fabric becomes apparent as it drapes towards the ground as a dress worn by an animatronic female figure. The travertine fabric is stretched as the torso rotates. As the travertine dress touches the ground, its shape takes on the contours of the entrance ramp and stairs.
