Doctor Pangloss

Description

Located at the entrance of the drop-off center of the Hazardous Waste Collection Facility, this monumental sculpture made of trash cans acts as a heroic marker in the landscape. It is patterned in form after the Endless Column, the famous sculpture by the modernist artist Constantin Brancusi. The title refers to the optimistic philosopher in Voltaire`s Candide and underscores the optimism of recycling.
