Emigrant Industrial Savings Bank


Description

Founded in 1850 to serve the Irish emigrant community, the Emigrant Industrial Savings Bank was the oldest savings bank in New York.

Constructed, 1908

The building was the largest bank building in the US a when it was completed. It was also the first Beaux-Arts skyscraper to be designed in an H-shape, giving light to almost all the offices.
