Description

Lee Lawrie's statue of Atlas stands in front of the Rockefeller Center in Midtown Manhattan. It depicts the Greek god Atlas, holding a sphere representing the heavens. Lawrie's Art-Deco style seen in his sculpture of Atlas mirrors the style of his relief sculptures located in front of the entryway to the Rockefeller Center as well.
