Gregg LeFevre was commissioned to create 96 bronze panels, inset in the sidewalk on both sides of 41st Street from Park to Fifth Avenue, now dubbed as "Library Way." Each illustrated relief panel is based on a quotation about literature, chosen by librarians from across the US. Quotes by E.B. White, Rene Descartes, Willa Cather, and Sir Tom Stoppard are a few featured writers whose words grace the pavement in bronze. A distinguished panel of literary experts and librarians were convened by the Grand Central Partnership, New York Public Library and The New Yorker to select the quotations from literature`s most prominent and enduring works. The project was the recipient of a New York Excellence in Design Award.
