The Boston Tea Party was a significant political protest that took place on December 16, 1773, in Boston, Massachusetts. American colonists, frustrated with British-imposed taxes on tea and lack of representation in Parliament, disguised themselves as Mohawk Native Americans and dumped 342 chests of tea into Boston Harbor. This act of defiance against British rule was a pivotal event leading up to the American Revolution, rallying support for American independence.
