African Meeting House

The African Meeting House is the oldest church building in the country that was built primarily by black artisans. In the 19th Century, during the migration of the African American community to Boston's West End, South End and Roxbury neighborhoods, the building became a synagogue. It was acquired by the Museum of African American History in 1972.
