Denver True is composed of two tools: a plumb bob and surveyor`s target suspended over a map. The plumb bob is the tool used to determine if a vertical surface is “true,” and a surveyor`s target is the tool used to locate an exact position. Both of these traditional devices are symbolic of the tools used to build the city. They are suspended over a map of the civic center and the larger grid of the city streets. The sun projects a colored beam of light through the target onto the floor map. When the sun shines through the dichroic glass Surveyor`s Target, it projects a colored beam of light through the target onto the floor map.
