Colonel Thomas Cass Statue

Although an earlier memorial to Cass was displayed shortly after his death, it received so much criticism that Boston Mayor Josiah Quincy secured funds for a new work in the colonel's honor. Sculptor Richard E. Brooks cast this bronze sculpture in 1899 and received gold medals for it at two World's Fairs, the Paris Exposition of 1901 and the Buffalo Exposition of 1902.
