Wood-Frame Construction Ban

The city implemented the first ban on wood frames in 1816 for the area below Canal Street. In 1849, the zone grew north to 32nd Street. By 1882, no wood-frame construction could rise below 155th Street. (Brooklyn implemented similar rules in various waves, but much later)
